That's My Girl

After the Fishing Tournament and Grant's soccer game we headed to the church to watch Camille's basketball game. They did really well considering the team they were playing. I was a bit shocked when my little girl FOULED OUT of the game. She has never been called for a foul before and today 5 fouls and you're out!! I am sure it was the refs!! :) Go CAM!

ICE FISHING!! :)

Today was our City Fishing Tournament. This is something that Grant has been looking forward to. On Wednesday it was in the 80's and this morning it was 39 degrees and the wind was blowing....Needless to say it was FREEZING!! We were all bundled up and hoping to land a big one. We didn't have much luck catching ANY fish so Grant decided that it was time to wrestle his Dad. I was sure one of them would end up in the water! :)

This man and his daughter caught 5 fish!! They were the only fish we saw caught the whole time we were there! No one on either side of them caught anything. I started to wonder if he was casting the line out with the fish already on. :)

It was fun to see our friends the Rousseau's there as well. As far as we know they didn't catch anything either. However Leslie did have hot chocolate and a battery powered hot chocolate stirrer. I never even knew there was such a thing.

No fish today.....just a memory!

Keller Rockets Opening Day!

Grant just started outdoor soccer for the Spring season. His team name is Keller Rockets and my dear friend MaryLee is his coach. He is on a team with most of his little buddies from church....does it get any better than this!! They had a great first game. It was FREEZING cold!!! I thought they would all be in tears by the end of the game but they all proved me wrong. It will be a great season to watch these little buddies play together! Grant and Aden

Your're Gonna Miss This!

There is this great little song called You're Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins (you can listen to it at the bottom of my blog) That song goes through my mind on occasions like this..... Grant's new thing is to run or bike to meet Camille coming home from school as soon as he hears her bus go by. If Blake is home he gets in on the action as well. Than after that Grant and Blake will ride/skate around the neighborhood. It is a highlight for Grant and he looks forward to that event all day!!

I came home yesterday from Costco and Blake was out trimming all of my trees and cleaning out the flower beds. I never even asked him to do any of that. It was such a good feeling to have that done. Thanks Blake!

SUCCESS!! Grant wanted to ride his bike without baby wheels....we worked with him for about 20 minutes for 2 different days and today he took off. He was so proud of himself! Stay tuned as I am sure that the next blog entry will be of his first wreck and trip to the hospital...Don't all boys have a scar on the chin from a bike wreck?! Mine do! Dad and Grant

I LOVE FLOWERS!! I have worked off and on for the past 8 years for the BEST flower shop in Texas called Out Of The Garden! Now that Grant is my full time buddy I only work once a week on Fridays. I certainly will not ever get rich working there but I LOVE to be there. There is something about being surrounded with the beauty of nature that makes my spirit soar. I know that sounds really corny but it does change me. I have seen some of the most beautiful and unusual plants and flowers. One can never tire of the beauty that God has created for us to enjoy. This week was Valentines week so I actually worked the whole week. Yes, it was exhausting but it is also an amazing feeling to know that something I actually designed is sitting in someones home bringing them pleasure. The warehouse background does nothing to show off the true beauty of these designs but I wanted to take some pictures of some of my favorites this week.

Fort Worth Rodeo!! 2/7/2009

It DOES matters WHO you know!! Steve and I had tried to buy tickets to the rodeo last weekend but they were all sold out. Since we are both from Idaho... we are both really country at heart and love these kind of things...plus we wanted Grant to see a rodeo! My friend Dina GAVE us 10 tickets for the closing sold out weekend of the rodeo. We invited some friends and headed out for the night. We had a blast!! Here is Grant with his buddy Nathan. The boys loved the whole night. From the FOOD to the RODEO! :)

Stake Day to Shine 2/7/2009

On Saturday, February 7 th our Stake hosted a wonderful event for the local Battered Women's Shelter. This is an event that stared by two sisters in our ward and it has been so successful that the Stake has adopted it as their own. We take part once a year at hosting a day for fun, rest, relaxation and safety for women who have found themselves in a tough situation. The women can come and bring their children. They had wonderful children classes that were offered. (beading, crafts, reading, sports, I even saw a Sister teaching kids to play her harp!) Then the women are pampered and feed both physically and spiritually. They offered manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, and hair cutting. After they have been pampered..we were all treated to a wonderful lunch and then a spiritually based program that was touching and sweet. The women left with free jewelry, books, CD's, pillow cases, homemade bread and QUILTS!! What a uplifting day!! It amazed me what just a few people can do to lighten the load of others. I have to admit that as I watch this wonderfully planned day unfold I was filled with gratitude for the many, many blessings I enjoy and too often take for granted.

I truly believe that when women come together for good... miracles can happen. I have seen them!

My BABY boy is 24 today!

It is true what they say about time.....It really does FLY! Can it be so that I really have a son that is 24!? I woke early this morning not able to sleep and my mind wandered to my life 24 years ago today. The excitement of having my first child... a son, was the bright spot in my life. Steve and I were poor collage students at BYU but we were thrilled to start a family of our own. Tyler was our first born. If I had to pick a first born....(one that would pave the way and set an example for the others) I would pick Tyler. He has always been valiant and good. (well his seminary teachers may differ with me on that..ha:) I saw in him at a very young age a spirit that was pure. He was always bothered by things that were not full of light and goodness. He is driven much like his father and sensitive like me. This is truly the circle of life as Tyler and his darling wife Kaylee are at the very same age and and very same place (literally) in life that Steve and I were 24 years ago. Only one difference.....No announcements yet. THAT I KNOW OF ANYWAY!! :)

So as I sit here today I have a 24 year old and a 4 year old. Boy I believe in spreading my kids out don't I !:) We love you Tyler. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I came across these pictures while I was looking for another one. Even though this was a little over a year ago, they make me smile every time I see them! Grant will hate these pictures as he gets older but it says happy memories to me. Camille sure loves this little guy and has spent hours playing with him. This is proof of a period of time that she dressed him up almost on a daily basis. Priceless.............
