Look Who's 29! 5/2010

My darling friend Dina called me while I was in Banff to tell me she and our friend Christine were throwing me a birthday party Hawaiian Style. Boy what a party they threw!
Here is a picture of us at the party. Dina and Christine have been such wonderful friends to me. We have worked on many assignments together and I have such great memories of those time. I am not sure why I have been blessed with such wonderful friends..but these two are among the BEST!! Everything was done Dina style. The decoration were darling and the food was fantastic. many of my dear friends brought yummy salads to add to the feast. It was really one of the funnest party I have been to. Granted it was for me...ha but it was just so fun!
This is the sign that welcomed all of us into the party!
The serving table.
McKenzie and Camille.
Dina called me and told me to bring my kids. I am so glad that she did. They had a blast as well... My darling kids Grant and Camille.
I have several pictures of my dear friends on this post but I wanted to remember that fun night!
Melanie, me and Joy.
Getting ready to blow the candles out! OK so I am not 29! Well I am half right...it does have a 9 in it! :)
friends, Beth Ann, Xela Laurens' Roman) , Kristen, Leslie, Lauren, Me (grant) ,and Chris.
Dianna, Caroline and me.
The Stacey's or is it the two Stacy's?? That girl always makes me laugh!
Amanda, Xela, Michelle, Linda, Jen., Me, Alecia, Kristen and Joy.
Mary Ann, Mary Beth, Me, Michelle, Claudette and Kelly.
Me and my darling girl Camille.
Michelle, Angie, Stacy and Roman.
Angela, Mary Ann, Mary Beth and Amanda.
Lisa, Raleen and Joy.
So one of the fun things we did is play..."sing that song" Beth and Melanie picked beach songs that we have to fill in the rest of the words to. It was a cross between musical chairs and name that tune!
It was so fun to let loose and enjoy the evening. Look at my rockin friends go!
The group. Dina's house is so comfortable and fun to be at. She does it all.
OK so I happened to mention to Dina that I took a hula class at BYU Hawaii when I went to school there for a semester. She told me that she would make me show them what I know! She actually made me do it. It has been years and I have forgotten much of it but it was so fun to try. HA It kicked off a hula contest! Me doing a very poor version of "little Grass Shack" to Tiny bubbles! Ha
Here Melanie and Beth are doing the updated version...Hip hop Hula. I think they have invented a new dance! :)
Dianna...Brazil style...only she told us how they "really" hula. Glad I don't live in Brazil! :)
I don't know how I got away without a picture of Marybeth and her Hula. You should have seen her move! Go MBB

I could not have been more surprised when they gave me this BEAUTIFUL painting by Dale Parsons . Dina remembered from a year ago that I saw hers and really wanted it. What a treasured gift and memory!

What a fun, fun party. Everything was over the top. Thank you dear friends for everything. I love you all.

Banff 2010

Steve surprised me with a great weekend away! He flew me to Canada to spend a few days with him and find a house. Then he took me for a MUCH needed night of relaxation to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. It was Mother's day weekend and our anniversary the week before. When I first saw this Hotel months ago, I wanted to stay there. It is full of history and so beautiful. What a treat!!! Steve checking in.
Everything was grand. I just loved to see the craftsmanship throughout the hotel. It amazes me to see the beautiful handy work of people in a time that it was hard to build. Everything was fabulous. You just do not see things built like this today.
I loved all of the light fixtures. We walked around several of the floors just to look at all of the neat antiques they had.
Outside the hotel.
Sorry this picture is so poor but I had to use it. They had this picture on the floor we were staying on. Funny thing is that it is the same picture of cows that we have in our kitchen. (except ours is framed better..ha) Steve bought it for me in a little bed and breakfast town that we stayed in. It was evidence to him that he has superb taste! I call it our pastoral picture. Everyone house needs ONE and only ONE!! :)
This was the view out of our Hotel room. Honestly it is beautiful. We saw so much wildlife everywhere.
We hiked Johnson Falls. I can't wait to take the kids exploring.....
It was May in Calgary and still chilly. It even snowed a little while I was there. I must admit I am a bit worried about the cold!
Thanks for the wonderful time honey...maybe we can do this again sometime. Next year maybe??

My Fun Friends! May 2010

These are two of my darling friends! Connie Hickson and Kelley Shehee. Kelly cut my hair when I first moved to Keller for many years until she moved to McKinney. (too far for me) until Connie would talk me into making a day of it and we would go get our hair cut and then go to lunch at a great Mexican spot. It was always a treat if we could all coordinate our schedules to get together. It was funny as Kelley and I realized that we had many friends in common in another area. Kelley is a hairdresser in every sense of the word! I served under Connie in Stake YW for only a short time before I found out we were moving. I learned so much for her. I love and admire Connie! I will miss our outing!

Grant's End of Year Program 5/3/2010

Grant had such a great year in Kindergarten this year at Building Blocks. He loved his teachers Mrs. Vermette and Mrs. Johnston and they loved him back! What a blessing they were in our life this year with the news of our big move to Canada. They were so sensitive of Grant with Steve being gone for so much of the time. Grant told them everything about our family and they were always so interested in what everyone was doing. I was always a bit nervous about what he would tell them next! ;) Getting ready for the program. The programs are done so nice and always seem to bring tears to my eyes. It amazes me that I have a "little" boy and that he is getting "big" so fast!
Grant loved to sing the songs he learned and who march around the house singing as loud as he could. It was so darling.
Afterwards were went back to his classroom to see all of the great things they have been learning.
Grant showing Camille his book that he made.
This is my favorite book that Grant made this year!
Such a fun night for Camille , Grant and I. We missed Dad who was in Canada! We will be SO happy when we are all back together again!
